Renovations

When it comes to home/commercial construction, renovate means projects such as repainting, updating drywall texture, installing new trim, installing new doors, replacing windows, refinishing cabinets, installing new lighting, installing new flooring, new tile, new sink, new toilet, new plumbing fixture or replacing kitchen cabinets, etc. The original structure of a home is not replaced or changed; it’s updated to reflect new designs, décor, or style. These alterations to a living space create a pleasing interior design. A bathroom with a new sink, toilet, and new tile can make a big difference.  As long as plumbing, electrical systems, and walls aren’t changed, it’s still considered a renovation. These changes improve the look and feel of the room without changing the structure. Renovations mean the room’s purpose remains essentially the same.  An example of structural change being necessary during a renovation would be if wood framing is showing signs of damage to the walls, ceilings, or subfloors and needs to be replaced. 

 Remodeling

During a remodeling job, the frame of a home, layout, plumbing, and electrical are some of the major systems that are altered, added or replaced. At times, a remodel means tearing down a wall or extending a roof line, combining two rooms in to one, or the opposite, adding new windows, new doorways, installing a kitchen island with plumbing and electric installed, Removing or moving walls, raising ceilings, Changing the layout of a room, moving the location of a bathtub or upgrading to a walk-in shower. Remodels are targeted to improve or change a home’s layout or construction.
